Zoflora and Miss Mouse

I stink of Zoflora! But at least it smells of the seaside. Had to wash the kitchen floor, pull the washing machine, the fridge, the freezer and the dishwasher out from under the kitchen counters to sweep up and bleach and Zoflora mouse doo-doo and pee. Ugh! Temba must have decided that the fieldmouse was too feisty for him so thought, “what the hell, I think master can have it to play with”.

And play I did. I found him, (the mouse) last night when I got home from the office. He was on the kitchen counter beside the sink. How he got up there is a mystery but he sure did not like the way down! So he stayed there hidden behind a box of Finish washing machine tablets. I got a fright. He did too, but unusually for a fieldmouse, he stayed put.

This gave me an opportunity to find the humane mouse trap - a mallet. But I could not find it so grabbed the plastic container used to top up steam irons with water. I did capture him but as I turned the container over (what a dipstick I was), he jumped. And boy did he jump. Over my shoulder onto the kitchen floor. Then he scooted off behind a cupboard. This is when I made a recce behind the fridge.

I wish I hadn’t. The mess he’d made in a day of imprisonment was unbelievable. He was in a fact a she. Because the pee did not smell as strongly pungent as a male mouse’s pee does. The other clue was the shredded paper to make a nest! She was very industrious. And the future Mr Mouse wherever he is, will be a happy rodent because she is a homemaker par excellence!

So then I had to find the humane mousetrap. I did and stuck a gob of peanut butter and choccie inside it, set it under the stove and went to bed. This morning the mouse was in the trap. They cannot resist chocolate or peanut butter. I set her free to go find her Mr Mouse.
