We all know that a marketer based up in Cumbria who draws cartoons on the back of business cards and blogs, started a marketing revolution by convincing a young vineyard in South Africa to let him do his marketing thing via blogging. The cartoonist/marketer/blogger is Hugh McLeod. He started something big alright.

He started writing about Stormhoek wine and once he’d piqued our interest and curiosity he then further convinced the vineyard’s execs to sponsor Geek Dinners by supplying the wine. What happened - you planned and organised the dinners and Stormhoek sent the wine and it all went very viral. Yeah!

You ‘n me linked in, we attached ourselves to Stormhoek. We ate the dinner, we met and made new friends and we chatted and chatted and laughed ‘n laughed all the while we drank the wine. We adopted the wine. We were the virus. It became our wine to enjoy & promote and boy did we pass the virus on! What a success for Hugh and Stormhoek. Sales rocketed. And now….

Yeah, I think we need a Stormhoek Grand Geek Ball and we must dress up in our tuxedos and ball gowns and set society alight with our outrageous intellect, manners, charm and ability to piss it up something rotten. Yeah, we can outdo the Oxford guys at their frat parties. I will be in a tux wearing Hugo Boss Original.
