The Blood Diamonds of Africa

The true blood diamonds of Africa are the child soldiers. Progeny of the first human blueprint of this world, forged in a history no other can compete with, these children were the real diamonds for Africa’s future. But then……..

They were forced to watch their families being killed by raiding slaughter parties, then were kidnapped by these warlords, fed drugs, taught to use an AK47, initiated into soldierhood by taking their first blood and forced against their will to join the slaughter parties to go and kill their innocent fellow Africans. These flowers of African youth more often than not paid the ultimate price for the sake of power camouflaged as ‘freedom’.

It is indeed a vile and despicable thing the parasite warlords do in the name of freedom.

After ignoring the movie Blood Diamond for a long while, and not wanting to hear Leonardo’s South African accent, I succumbed and watched it. The storyline is used to have a pop at the devastingly cruel warlords and their abuse and use of child soldiers.

The website for the movie Blood Diamond does have a special feature to depict the global conflict diamond story. Be warned the feature does not work well. In fact the website producer should redesign this feature for maximum effect of the reallife story of Africa’s conflict diamonds and not have a picture of the two film leads obscuring the page content.

Go see the website. Watch the movie if you have not already done so. Good to see Arnold Vosloo (the mummy in the movie “The Mummy”) in an important role.

Ja, I also picked up on their whole analogy of child soldiers being the real blood diamonds.

It is so hectic.

So did you approve of the accent?

Leonardo did a credible job on the accent. I liked the way he said ‘doos’ and ‘p*&s’. And ‘bru’

His coach was thorough!
