Who is Shutterjane? She is Elize Meijer, a very intelligent and amazing woman who loves photography.

Elize left South Africa 5 years ago. She dumped her career and a bright future to come to Europe. The decision to do so must have been very difficult to make. Especially if you are going somewhere alone where you don’t know anybody. She arrived at Amsterdam with seriously limited funds, a camera, her baggage and zero prospects. That was indeed a very brave move. Some might call it foolhardy but Elize knew what she was doing. Just like she knows what to do with a camera.

Five years on, Elize is settled into a career in Holland and is now perfecting her art. She has a blog called Shutterjane where you can go and spend hours viewing her glorious photographs.

Elize uses her camera,( a Canon G7), to capture ordinary street scenes, architecture, animals and birds at a zoo and through her lens manages to transform the birds and animals into magical creatures who appear to be able to jump out of the photo at you. Her architectural photos capture the essences of the structures and the detail Elize is able to highlight would have Frank Lloyd Wright squirming cross-legged for joy.

Elize’s art is compositly exquisite. Full of texture and rich fresh colours that seem to have just seconds ago been plucked from a tree. Her collection is available for viewing on Flickr. Click here to go see her collection on Flickr.

Aren’t the photos Elize has allowed me to reproduce here just so outrageously fantastic? Just look at them. Beauitiful aren’t they? And it takes a very, very talented person to produce such excellence.
