Blogger Has-Been

DID YOU KNOW THAT BLOGGING HAS BEEN DECLARED DEAD?

Didn’t you know that you are doomed as a blogger, doomed I say unless you follow the career professionals to social networking?

No? You weren’t aware of the tiniest hint of a hiccup in blogosphere? Really? See Hugh’s article: sign up to facebook or consign your career to the dustbin of history etc etc.

Reaction to Hugh’s article where he links to Paul Walsh’s little plea to not have anymore LinkedIn invites, includes a comment by an anonymous blogger at Hugh’s site which sums up the rumpus very nicely for me:

myspace, twitter, facebook, etc?

All these are going to last about as long as a theme pub (6 to 12 months.)
Somehow web 2.0 has managed to become a fashion business.

I especially like,”Somehow web 2.0 has managed to become a fashion business”. And we know only so well how fickle, bitchy, expensive and short-lived fashion is. I am so shocked that Donatella, Lagerfeld or Stella have not yet created their own designer diamate & sequinned social networks.

Better not hold my breath on that hey? Meanwhile back in blogosphere the big fuss is still rumbling on particularly within the ‘professional careerers’ demographic. They are advocating an abandonment of blogging in favour of ‘networking’ at sites like Facebook. Oh and LinkedIn’s days are now gone too. So if you take note of the very ungracious quivering lip hype at Paul Walsh’s blog, you most probably will not want to use LinkedIn ever again. Basing an opinion on Mr Walsh’s experience is not a very good idea. Find out for yourself what LinkedIn can do for you before accepting that the limitations he found are the same you experience. Actually, I think he has a bloody nerve seeing as how when he first signed up at LinkedIn, at that time they provided him access to the conduit to a large network of likeminded career professionals who all thought LinkedIn was just the best thing since the last thing they broadcasted was the best thing since.

LinkedIn is designed specifically to perform a purpose. That purpose is to introduce people to other people. Nothing more nothing less. But obviously Mr Walsh has an opinion or is it objection about LinkedIn’s shortcomings. I wonder if eyecandy is one of LinkedIn’s downsides and is on Mr Walsh’s list? Plenty of eyecandy at Facebook.

It seems then that the A-Listers desertion of the blogger ship has become more rabid and rapid than I thought it would. The fingerpointing has started and A-Listers now actively point out the faults, shortcomings and whatever about all those neat applications that they previously, and not too long ago, ranted at us to use! Remember the quote about Web 2.0 going into the fashion business. Watch this space!

Also watch out for the rebound comments by the hi-tech speak brigaders. They will prattle on using daft words like ‘paradigm shift’, ‘uplift’, ‘upstreaming’ and other geekspeak. It all means they cannot speak plain and understandable English and prefer to hide behind and baffle you with bullshit.

I do hope the last one off the A-list switches off the lights and shuts the door on Blogebrity.com forever. Good riddance is all I can say. To both. There appears to be no resiliance. No depth of character. No tenacious drive to continue providing us with quality blogging and craftmanship for us to aspire to. How utterly absurd. And shameful.

that’s what they said about face to face interfacing. And look what bookclubs did to THAT. In fact, “face” “book” is just a sad attempt to replicate the book club interface.

so there!
