Marva N. Collins, (born August 31, 1936) is an educator who in 1975 started Westside Preparatory School in Garfield Park, an impoverished neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.

ahh.. the glorious Marva Collins.. she of “The essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another” a wild a wonderful woman!
thanks for the reminder Rob (good to be back on your site & re-inspired)

PS. also for the reminder of Juluka - the lyrics roll with ease & the melody recalls growing up in Jo’burg during heavy times (juluka launched their 1st album at my parent’s club & Johnny Clegg signed it for me - our gentle gardner Michael from Zim was going back home & it was my parting gift to him ‘cos we used to belt out the songs with gusto & drive my mom mad - gr8 memory, thx fellow scatterling :-)
