I have been asked why I called Hugh Macleod’s business cartoons Aaaarght. The answer is simple although the thought process behind the answer is complex. Sublime simplicity creates a great reaction in me if the intelligence behind the cartoon or humour is of a wickedly satirical nature, and in Hugh’s case like Jeremy Nell’s cartoons, it is enough to make me go “aaaaaargh” in wonderment and incredulty.
Hugh has the genius to create something from nothing and make it fabulously humurous or a sad motif of his world at that moment in time. In my opinion, Hugh has that incredible ability to give you the birdie while you enjoy being the recipient! That takes a truckload and more of talent.

I think I have a big fat crush on Hugh, in an Aaaaaarght kind of way.
I can safely say that I only have a crush on you, Katt, ShutterJane, CaZ, Roxilla, AfroM, Jeanne, Cheap Tart, Misty, Champers and a host of other wonderful women.
I do like his cartoning though. A lot.
….and I especially dig Jeremy Nell’s cartoon kakstyle a lot . A moer of a lot! More than moer can be moered!

Aaah, Roberto….you are a gentleman of the first order.
So, either Rob got buried under a pile of papers at work and his body is rotting in his office under the desk, or had both of his arms broken in a car crash, and decided it’s too much trouble to type with a pencil in his mouth, or is trying to test that old saying that absence makes the heart grown fonder, or some crap like that.
