Blogosphere - Is This As Good As It Gets?

What’s the big deal about Web 3.0?

I don’t know about you but over the past three years I was expecting a whole lot more drama about Web 2.0 than the diluted stream of weak wimpish stuff I have seen and participated in. Should I be expecting a mass blogosphere launch with virtual fireworks displays when Web 3.0 gets unveiled? *

Blogosphere and its marketing blogger community abounds with much stuff about Web 2.0 and what it is. But not a lot is mentioned or raved about what it will be when what they call Web 2.0 jumps the curve to the next level and gets repackaged, rewrapped, rebranded and renamed as Web 3.0

Methinks we are stuck for ideas.

But before we all are forced to leap up, clap hands and welcome in the new Web3.0, I want to know what happened to Web 2.1, Web 2.11 and all the other enhancements in between which were/are surely needed in order to arrive at the final production verion of Web 3.0? Am I missing something? Or is the title just a meaningless monicker marketers append to this virtual thing we get told is the new in thing?

Well if this is the great Web 2.0 then is this as good as it’ll get? Won’t it improve a bit more beforehand? Or is it really as good as it’ll ever get?

We’ve overdosed on social media. The number of new social network sites launched in 2007 pays homage to the sheep theory. I think the originality mould was broken when MySpace was launched. Is new social media (Web 2.0) that old already?

Everything else since then has been in my opinion a version on a theme and is just copycat crap. OK so Facebook offered something new on the format and the sheep followed but isn’t it a case of its all been done before?

Where and who is the next programmer to provide us with the originality for how we do things in the social online world? What wonderful original thing will we snap up en masse? Who or what is going to make the earth shake and blogosphere omit a virtual shudder?

No ideas? No? Well then, I guess the excitement about Web3.0 is somewhat premature isn’t it? And I am bored with whatever Web 2.0 was or is meant to be. It does not float my boat.

*Who will unveil Web 3.0?
