Nearly everywhere we go we receive a relentless barrage of green mind-programming via “how to be green” leaflets, ‘we are a green corporation’ billboard adverts, green TV programmes, green TV News items and local green councillors berate us to recycle more of our refuse because the end of the world is nigh.
But the recycling trucks do not collect our special recycling bins/baskets with the seperated out plastic bottles, plastic containers, cellophane wrappers and other platic detrius. Instead they only collect paper and glass bottles.
A GREEN IDEA
Some councils collect green garden refuse and also provide at a price, the green recycled plastic bags in which to place your lawn clippings, weeds and tree or bush offcuts.
Yes in Oxfordshire you pay for these green bags but at less than £1 each they cost less than the car fuel (1 x litre = £1.06), I’d use to drive the 40 mile round trip to the nearest Recycling Centre to offload the garden stuff.
How much of a C02 footprint does such a trip leave behind? Mmmmm? I think the councils across UK should standardise their green collections services to cut down on carbon emmissions and prevent more fuel consumption from the thoudands of homeowners who’d need to drive to the tip instead of having a single truck service do a house by house collection service every fortnight or each week.
Except that by providing such a service they deny the green fuel companies the opportunity to earn more from me after such a long trip because I’d need to drive to a petrol station to fill or top up the tank.
Are we being forced to accept green guilt by the recycled truck load?
While we are permitted to experience how the green local councils refuse collection programmes fail abysmally at the fundamentals and cannot be taken seriously, I cannot in all honesty say that I take the green BS seriously anymore. I am waiting to be proved wrong.
In other words, the councils and that idiot Trotskyite at Number 10, should stop haranguing me with their green recycled claptrap, extract their collective heads from their collective arses, take a good and long collective look around, see who is fooling who while all the while making fistfulls of dollars at it, then get a serious green programme going to earn back the respect they lost from us taxpayers decades ago.
Afterall, we pay for the service via our taxes and council rates. So, who is footing the green bill?? People like me are. And so guess who feels green guilt building up inside?
