Having previuosly reached the dizzy heights of being ranked in the top 70,000 with Technorati, I watched helplessly as my rank slipped down to 142,000th. Nothing I could do would stop the rot and down the greasy pole I slid!
I moaned at Technorati. I blogged and ranted at Technorati. They said nothing and did not scan my site for 70+ days. I was spiralling and about to exit stage right in a blaze of glory when all of a sudden, a light went on in the wings. Yep, I saw the light and the penny dropped - stop blaming others and seeking fault anywhere but where the real problem was - in my head! So I started paying attention and developing the site and blogging more. And lo and behold I have clawed my way back into the top 100,000 bloggers.
And then I went to Amatomu.com to see how things looked there.
Wow, iScatterlings in the Top 100 blogs. Wooohooo! But all this could not have happened without you.

Having said that, I don’t know why I’m one of the few that just couldn’t be bothered about ‘top lists’. Any popularity/success I’ve had with my blog has been by mere chance - some might say this is a bad thing because one is less deserving of the price when there has been little or no effort on the part of the blogger. I agree with people that think that way.
I’ll make an effort to start caring, I will. Maybe next year I’ll make the list (I laughed at myself after reading that last sentence).
The ranking is not the point with me - it was a case of being pissed at Technorati for not responding to my and others mails about them not spidering the sites for 3 or 4 months. Bad.
Even worse was their total silence on the matter. Had they put out a note or sent out an apology at the time as a response to the thousands of queries being mailed in, then it would have been a different matter. But they did ziltch, nada, fokol, zero.
Not being any wiser, I got extremely angry and started to rebel against them and their methodologies. I also became determined to prove them wrong about my ranking! This is not the correct way to go about things I know, but I had a huge boulder on my shoulder about this!!
Anyway, thank goodness the penny dropped and I got my head out my ass and did something constructive.
Thanks for the message you Enigma! And I think you will be so surprised at how your blog is received out here. Oh yes. I see you building a relationship with Misty. Do it. Keep blogging. Or I will be in Osha sometime soon to light a fire under your butt!!
