Sideorder of Sun please!

Winter is setting in too rapidly. The central heating has been switched on after a 7 month sojourn. At 05:45am when I get up each day and turn the heating on, the pipes creak and crack like crazy and the water bubbles away along it course through the system.

The new vertical chrome radiator in the new bathroom works like a treat. I must still test the underfloor heating. Somehow I think this winter the UK will be hit hard by cold and freezing weather and will need the heating more than usual.

The windows and front door were installed just in time to bed in before the cold weather set in.

Now I look forward to using less heating fuel than ever before. The wide spaced vacuum between the double-paned windows are said to be great heat conservers. They prevent heat loss which translates into less fuel used. We shall see. I am hoping I will need only a single half tank top up to see me through to spring. Fuel will be expensive due to the oil price hikes and I am not looking forward to making the call to Total’s Domestic Heating Products sales desk!

The Daylight Savings clock reset occurs this weekend. You guys in SA cannot imagine the sheer joy of it getting dark at 4pm each day. All of you who have stayed in UK for a winter will remember how inviting the duvet is at 06:00am on a freezing cold frosty or raining dark morning. Getting up in that lot is seriously not fun.
