PICNIC AT HENLEY REGATTA 2007

If this is your first visit at iScatterlings, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I’m going to Henley Regatta 2007 for the rowing and secondary sport of “Hoorah Henry” watching to see Perry, Clive and Reg gad about in their striped blazers, whites and boaters. Am going to take a picnic with. It is bound to be a brilliant day. Interested?

If I ask nicely, maybe other SAFFERS can begin making noise on their own blogs about the 2007 Henley Regatta picnic as well? The more we can get to join us for a day of good food and gallons of rose’ the better.

Mail the Gastronomic Delights

Peter in Austria mails a stroodle to Emma in England who mails a Lancashire hotpot to Isabella in Italy who mails a canneloni to Dieter in Germany who mails a BrukWurst to Vanessa in Hungary who mails a……..

I don’t think I will have ever attempted to do this at home between Berkshire, Suffolk and West Glamorgan but Jeanne at CookSister has pulled off a terrific gastronomic feat by organising and managing a pass the food parcels around Europe expedition.

Go read here about Jeanne’s latest yummydelish escapade!

Meanwhile, I think we should see if the same interaction can occur between Oxfordshire and the Lone Sar state in America! Cupcakes for a rice pudding?! Fair exchange?

It is a Sad Day For All Lawns

My lawn has expired. It is no more. It has gone to meet the haymaker in the sky.

Due to the abnormal climate in England this summer and the resultant hosepipe ban by Thames Water Authority to try to preserve waters reserves, my lawn has been forced to suffer a long, slow and painful death by thirst.

I tried to keep the lawn fed with water by watering can. This method does not serve a lawn well. For those who care about lawn upkeep, this was a lawn I’d nurtured and turned from a weed field into a super fine showcase lawn. Visitors who came from afar to the braais (BBQs) I held would Ooooh and Aaaah at the lawn. It was a worthy lawn and withstood the ravages of harsh winters here in the West Berkshire Downs. Season after wintery season, it would revive itself into its magnificant billiard table glory.

And now because Thames Water said it was OK to fill your swimming pool but not OK to water a lawn, my super fine bladed lawn is dead. Thank you so bloody much you twits at Thames Water.
