I need your help to collate a list of criteria that shareholders should use when selecting a new CEO.
What qualifies a person for CEOdom? Is is pure academic achievement? Is it simply the individual’s track recocord for bringing home the bacon for the shareholders or is it a mix of academia plus on the job experience in a related industry coupled to growth plus shareholder value?
What qualities as a human would you look for in your CEO? Should the person be an approachable walkabout manager or should the CEO be a mistrusting meglomaniac, process driven toxic character who remains cut off, aloof and stranded in the ivory tower?
One thing is cast in stone - the CEO must not be one of the boys. There must be some distance to allow for respect. So if you have any hard and fast opinions on what should go into making up the person who personifies your perfect CEO, please post your comment here.
